About Ragini Rainu
Ragini Rainu, the young Sufi songstress of India, is the disciple of the Legendary Santoor Maestro and Music Composer Pandit Bhajan Sopori. With a strong base of classical gayaki (vocal system), her style is embedded with tayari (fluency) and bhava (aesthetics and expressions).
Ragini has been honoured with various awards including the prestigious ‘Global Punjabi Award– 2014’ by Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India, ‘SaMaPa Yuva Ratan Samman – 2013’ by Music legend Pt. Bhajan Sopori, ‘J&K Dogri Award – 2008’ by the Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, and ‘Sur Shree Award – 2006’ by legendary vocalist Pt. Tejpal Singh, amongst others. She was honoured with the ‘Radio 92.7 Big FM Award - 2011’ for her contribution to music and singing one of the most popular Dogri songs of the recent times. She was also awarded ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ at the Jeonjo Sori Korean Music Festival, 2005. Ragini’s name also features in various Biographical-note Volumes like “Asia Pacific Who’s Who”, “Asian Admirable Achievers, 2013”, etc.
Ragini is the first ever Sufi musician to perform in the prestigious ‘Sankat Mochan Festival, Banaras’, the topmost music festival of India.
