Yoga is almost on the same page as science as both believe everything in universe is energy. It could be manifested or unmanifested.
Manifested energy is gross and takes the shape of matter. And, unmanifested or potential energy is subtle and holds the potential of manifestation.
Science believes that energy cannot be created or destroyed; however, it can be created into different forms.
When a particular mantra is uttered, the chant creates an energy that may have various subtle and gross effects depending on the mantra.
Japa is a meditative repetition of a mantra. It is a practice found in many religions like Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism and even Buddhism. Apart from the subtle benefits of the mantra used in Japa, it also is very useful in following ways,
Repeating the mantra over a while automatically calms down the mind and boost the parasympathetic nervous system.
The parasympathetic nervous system is one of three divisions of the autonomic nervous system. Sometimes called the rest and digest system, the parasympathetic system conserves energy.
- It slows the heart rate, increases intestinal and gland activity.
- It relaxes muscles and nerves and can greatly help us in our wellbeing.
- When Japa is done with devotion and faith, it helps open the heart centre and develops compassion.
- It in turns the potential to heal one of the chronic illnesses, improve relationships.
- It also develops determination and willpower in practitioners to fulfill the dreams and goals one set for themselves.
